Volunteering as a cat fosterer for our Lifeline service gives cats whose families are fleeing domestic abuse a loving, temporary home until they can be reunited with their owner.
By fostering with Lifeline, you’ll be helping someone to escape domestic abuse, knowing their cat is in a loving home while they find safety. Sadly, pets can be a barrier for people leaving domestic abuse, as many refuges are unable to accept pets. That’s why we created Lifeline, to support owners to keep their pets and to help protect cats from harm.
We’ll cover all costs so all you need to do is provide a loving, temporary home for your foster cat and send us lots of photos so we can give their owner updates. Fostering with our service is completely confidential, so you won’t know anything about the owner and they also won’t know your identity. All communication goes through our dedicated Lifeline team to keep everyone anonymous and safe.
All you need to provide your foster cat with is a safe home and somewhere comfy to nap. We can help you with the rest! We’ll provide your foster cat’s food and any medication or veterinary care they need while they are with you. Of course, you’re more than welcome to spoil them with more toys.
To be a Lifeline foster you also need to:
"The best things about volunteering for Lifeline are having a cat snoring on my desk while I work, hearing little paws coming down the stairs and being greeted by a friendly furry face each morning. It’s also nice to know that we’re helping a cat during a difficult time for them by giving them all the love, cuddles and enrichment we can. We definitely benefit from having a cat in our life, and it’s lovely to know that we can provide a safe and loving home for them until they can be reunited with their family."
